FlyGirls shine at Innovative Dance Choreography Competition

The Jr. FlyGirls dance team from Maize Middle School earned top honors recently at the Innovative Dance Choreography Competition, marking their second year at the event.

The team earned two Division I ratings and one Division II rating for its group routines. Jazz and pom received Division I, while hip-hop earned Division II and the Entertainment Award.

Seventh-grade soloist Olivia F. received a Division I rating for her performance.

The Jr. FlyGirls were named All Around Winner, the competition’s highest honor. Only five teams of 27 participants earned the distinction, and MMS was the only middle school represented. The team also was recognized as the Overall Innovative Team.
Coach Hayley Dunitz said the dancers “worked incredibly hard and showed confidence, teamwork and heart on the floor. I’m so proud of how they represented our school and supported one another throughout the competition.”

The results reflect the dancers’ dedication and the strong extracurricular opportunities supported by Maize USD 266.
